Three people have died due to the collapsed parking garage at the Miami-Dade College in Doral, Florida.

Eight people have also been hospitalized due to the collapse, according to NBC News.

The garage collapsed on Wednesday in almost a pancake like style. Police believe at the time there were only construction workers on site due to the construction of the garage. The rubble was believed to be about 20 feet high.

Victoria Buczynski, a resident in Miami, was at work when the garage collapsed, “It fell to the ground like a house of cards,” she said. “The construction workers started running out, screaming. It was loud. Our entire building shook.”

According to Huffington Post, the parking garage was five stories high and four of the floors collapsed at about 11:40 a.m.

One man was confirmed dead on the scene, the second body was found later on Wednesday, and the third was found later into the night.

The Ajax Building Corporation, the contractor, issued a statement about the accident on Wednesday, “Our deepest sympathies and prayers to the families of our colleague who died, our colleagues currently being rescued and others injured.”

Inspections were performed by the Miami-Dade College and not the city or county.
