A Texas substitute teacher allegedly admitted she is pregnant by a 14-year-old.
According to Mail Online, Amanda Sotelo has been having an affair with a former student of hers for months. She was a substitute teacher at several schools in Bexar County. Sotelo is married and has two children.
The teen admitted to having sex with Sotelo at least once a week. In an affidavit, Sotelo said that the teen would come to her home in the beginning just to talk about their problems. The relationship turned sexual in July. In September Sotelo found out she was pregnant after a visit to an emergency room.
NBC News reports that Sotelo is in a Bexar County jail and is charged with indecency of a child and her bond is set at $75,000.
The school district learned about the allegations after the boy’s mother told them of the relationship.
Anne Marie Espinoza, spokeswoman for the Southwest Independent School District in San Antonio, commented in an email statement. “The district learned of an allegation of inappropriate behavior of a substitute with a high school student. The district immediately took appropriate actions to ensure the substitute was not on any campus pending an investigation,” she said. “The district made contact with appropriate agencies including law enforcement. The substitute is no longer employed by the district.”
