Teenager charged in the shooting death of the 4-year-old from the Bronx

A teenager has been charged with the death of a 4-year-old in the Bronx.

Rondell Pinkerton,17, was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with murder of 4-year-old Llyod Morgan and criminal possession of a weapon.

“We are speaking to a 17-year-old young man who admits to being at the scene of the shooting,” NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said. “[He] admits to shooting rounds at that location. He states it was self-defense because he was being shot at.”

According to NBC New York, detectives think the shooting involved four members of a group against one individual.  Police believe that the men were shooting at each other as an ongoing argument.

Courtney Kelly,26, was also allegedly involved and was charged with criminal possession of a weapon. It is unsure if he was involved in the shooting.

Lloyd Morgan was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Two other men were also injured in the shooting. One was shot in the stomach and the other in the arm.

The crowd was out watching a basketball game in memorial of a 15-year-old girl who had been stabbed to death one year prior, stated Daily News.

“You don’t even understand how this affects someone with a boy, let alone a small boy,” Lloyd’s mother, Shianne Norman, told Pix11. “No one expects their child to be shot at four.”

Police have taken several people into custody since the shooting, many had outstanding warrants.
