Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is taking responsibility for the attack in Benghazi that killed four Americans.

According to USA Today, Clinton stated “I take responsibility. I’m in charge of the State Department’s 60,000-plus people all over the world — 275 posts.”

Vice President Joe Biden claimed that the White House did not know there was more security needed over in Benghazi. Clinton said that the White House did not know about the issues going on in Benghazi and that it is up to the State Department.

“The president and the vice president wouldn’t be knowledgeable about specific decisions that are made by security professionals,” stated Clinton. “They’re the ones who weigh all of the threats and the risks and the needs.”

According to NBC, Clinton also stated that there should not be a debate about who to blame for the attacks.

“I really believe that tragedies like what happened in Benghazi should be viewed in a non-political way. Everybody should pull together as Americans,” she said.

Rather than focusing on who to blame for the attacks, the State Department stayed focused not on why something happened that was for the intelligence community to determine, but what was happening and could happen. We did everything we could to keep our people safe, which is my primary responsibility.”
