Chicago man beaten to death by three teenagers

Three teenagers charged in the beating death of a Rogers Park man.

CNN reports that Delfino Mora was out collecting aluminum cans and scrap metal in an alley to sell. He was close to his home in north Chicago when Malik Jones decided he was going to attack him.

Jones and his friends Nicholas Ayala and Anthony Malcom were playing a game called “pick ‘em out and knock em’ out”, according to a Cook County, Illinois prosecutor.

The boys used Jones’ cell phone to record the attack. According to Tandra Simoton, the prosecutors’’ spokeswoman, the boys wanted to hear the “loud crack of his head hitting the cement.”

Jones was also heard on the video saying, “I think I’m going to knock this guy out.”

The teens left Mora bleeding on the ground only to return a few minutes later to steal $60 from his wallet.

According to WGN, Mora died Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Ill. His cause of death was blunt force head trauma.

The boys ended up posting their video of the attack on Facebook, when the Mora family saw it and contacted the Chicago Police immediately.

All three boys are charged with first degree murder and robbery as adults and they are held without bail until their next court date.

“I want revenge, but my mom told us not to do anything,” Emmanuel Mora said, “God would take care of him and he’s going to pay twice.”

Chase Bank in Chicago has a donation account available for the Mora family. They would like to return his body to his hometown in Mexico.
