Rapper 50 Cent used his celebrity status to help feed those who were less fortunate on Thanksgiving.

50 Cent teamed up with Feeding America, The Food Network, and SMS Audio to provide Thanksgiving meals for hungry New Yorkers and Hurricane Sandy Victims at the Cipriani Restaurant in Manhattan, New York, according to MTV News.

The event was called the “Our Table Is Yours.”

50 Cent told MTV, "I'm able to provide meals for victims of Sandy or other people in New York City that don't actually have food."

CNN reports more than 1,000 people were fed due to the event. There were buses that transported the people to the restaurant. Also, they were given a meal to take home and gift cards to buy everyday essentials.

50 Cent started working with Feeding America after a trip to Africa. "Hunger's not a third world issue. It's a world issue. Within America one in six Americans actually go hungry. You've got more than one in five kids experiencing hunger or they're surviving on just their school lunch," 50 Cent said.

For every pair of headphones purchased online through SMS Audio, 50 Cent provides 250 meals to Feeding America.
