A man who is suspected of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend and two police officers in Virginia was arrested in Montana.
Fredricksburg.com reports Laurence Alan Stewart II was taken into custody after a high speed chase in Montana on Thursday. Police report the suspect threw pipe bombs, similar to the ones he used in Fredericksburg, from the vehicle during to pursuit.
Stewart was accused of setting off bombs at three homes on Tuesday, two being in Stafford, which was the home of an ex-girlfriend and the home of a Stafford detective, and one in Fredericksburg, where a Stafford deputy lived.
NBC News reports the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives spokesman Bradley Beyersdorf said, “This was an individual that was very dangerous. He showed that capacity in Virginia and continued that today in Montana.”
Stewart is charged in Stafford County with attempted capital murder on a law enforcement officer, attempted capital murder during the commission of an act of terror, two counts of manufacture or possession of a weapon of terror, and two counts of burning or destroying by use of explosives at a dwelling. He is being charged in Fredericksburg with attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer, missile into an occupied dwelling and arson of an occupied dwelling.
He faces three counts of attempted deliberate homicide in Montana and one count of criminal endangerment.
