A Halloween party ended with gunfire at the University of Southern California Los Angeles campus, according to officials.

CNN reports, two men were arguing on Wednesday night, according to Captain David Carlisle who works for the public safety department at the university.

One of the men in the argument was critically wounded and three others had non life threatening injuries, according to Carlisle.

The campus was put on lockdown but that has since been lifted, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“The campus is now open,” said an email alert from the university. “Classes are in session.”

USC officials are trying to reassure students, parents, and the public that the campus is safe. Both of the suspects are in police custody.

Assistant Chief John Thomas said the incident was isolated and there is no pending danger.

Michael L. Jackson, USC’s vice president of student affairs, said, “This incident reminds us that we must look out for ourselves and be particularly vigilant about the personal safety of friends and guests at our social events.”

Students also reacted to the incident.

Matthew Hamilton, a graduate student said, “You hear one shot and you’re like, ‘Wait, what was that?  As soon as it registered, everyone just ran.”

“Everyone ran. Everyone ran like hell,” said student Ashley Riegle. “We just ducked down.”
