A Mobile woman was gunned down in front of her home
A mother of two was gunned down in front of her home in Mobile, Alabama on Saturday.
Wendy Fisher was shot by a 17-year-old male after she yelled at him for speeding down the road. The suspect, Trayon Washington, was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder, reports News15 Mobile.
On Tuesday, Fisher’s friends and family gathered for a candlelight vigil. The crowed chanted, “Stop the violence!”
The victim’s mother was among those present. “I’ve never been through any pain like this,” Carol Fisher said. “We were robbed. We were robbed of our daughter. Two children were robbed of their mother. And even though we are Christians and believe in God and God’s grace is carrying us through, we can’t help but be angry.”
The community is coming together to help raise funds for the family. Fisher was a bartender downtown, and was known by many people.
Bowie Cupit, co-owner of B&G, said the people just want to make sure her two children receive the support they need while honoring their mother in the process.
“We can’t make anything right. We can’t bring her back but we want to let them know we care. The Mobile tribe cares,” said Cupit.
“Money is not really something that can help somebody through this tragedy but hopefully, something good can come out of it,” said Matt Tait, a friend of Fisher’s.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m.. There are also donation boxes set up at the local Regions Bank for her children.
